eZKine™ Whole Blood Cytokine Detection Assays
CD4+ T helper cells function primary through the secretion of various effector cytokines that signal to cells of the body to respond to a particular pathogen, or to self in the case of auto-immunity. To respond to the multitude of potential insults, CD4+ T cells differentiate into specialized subsets which are characterized by their production of specific cytokines. While ELISA analysis of blood serum paints a systemic picture of the overall cytokine response, in many cases it is extremely beneficial to be able to analyze cytokine production on a per-cell basis.
The eZKine™ line of assays were designed to provide high quality detection of T cell cytokine production quickly and robustly, even in rare cell populations such as Th17 cells, all with minimal exposure to the harsh conditions associated with common methods of lymphocyte fractionation. Activation of cells in whole blood and a single staining/fixation/lysing step avoids the unnecessary cell death and loss linked to time-consuming density gradients and multiple wash steps.
