Description

Description: This FlowCytomix Simplex Kit is designed for the measurement of Human MIG in an immunoassay analyzed on a flow cytometer. Together with the FlowCytomix Human Basic Kit (cat. BMS8420FF), this kit can be used to detect MIG alone or can be multiplexed with other Simplex Kits to measure a variety of analytes.

This kit contains bead population B4.

MIG (monokine induced by interferon gamma) belongs to the subfamily of the CXC chemokines. The main function of this soluble protein is the recruitment of leukocytes to sites of infection and inflammation.

MIG binds to a receptor which is selectively expressed in activated T lymphocytes and therefore is a critical mediator of T-lymphocyte migration in T-cell dependent immune responses. This displays antiviral activity. Like IP-10 it binds to chemokine receptor CXCR3 in Th1 immune reactions and exhibits inhibitory functions in neovascularization, is an inhibitor for hematopoietic progenitor cells and shows anti-tumor effects.

Furthermore there are indications that MIG plays an important role in mediating cell recruitment and activation necessary for inflammation and the repair of tissue damage e.g. in liver diseases.
