Description: The monoclonal antibody CDF4 recognizes human Golgin-97. Golgin-97, a GRIP domain protein member that was first identified as a Golgi complex autoantigen associated with Sjogren's syndrome. Golgin-97 is a peripheral membrane protein found on the trans face of the Golgi apparatus. The protein G family member, Arl1, mediates the binding of Golgin-97 to the Golgi membrane. Like all GRIP proteins, Golgin-97 functions in maintaining the integrity of the trans Golgi network. Golgin-97 has also been shown to function as a tethering molecule in the retrograde transport of proteins from the endosomes to the trans Golgi network. During poxvirus infection, Golgin-97 incorporates into virions and plays a role in viral replication and morphogenesis.
Applications Reported: This CDF4 antibody has been reported for use in immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, microscopy, and immunocytochemistry.
Applications Tested: This CDF4 antibody has been tested by immunocytochemistry of formaldehyde-fixed and permeabilized cells and can be used at less than or equal to 5µg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.

The Golgi apparatus, which participates in glycosylation and transport of proteins and lipids in the secretory pathway, consists of a series of stacked cisternae (flattened membrane sacs). Interactions between the Golgi and microtubules are thought to be important for the reorganization of the Golgi after it fragments during mitosis. The Golgins are a family of proteins, of which the protein encoded by this gene is a member, that are localized to the Golgi. This encoded protein is associated with Sjogren's syndrome.
