Description

Description: This product consists of two fluorochrome-conjugated monoclonal antibodies to distinguish human peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T cells. The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody (mouse IgG1, κ) reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by a majority of thymocytes, subpopulation of mature T cells (T helper cells) and in low levels on monocytes. CD4 is a receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The RPA-T8 monoclonal antibody (mouse IgG1, κ) reacts with the human CD8a molecule, an approximately 32-34 kDa cell surface receptor expressed either as a heterodimer with the CD8 β chain (CD8αβ) or as a homodimer (CD8αα). A majority of thymocytes and a subpopulation of mature T cells and NK cells express CD8a. CD8 binds to MHC class I and through its association with protein tyrosine kinase p56lck plays a role in T cell development and activation of mature T cells.
