Novel Recombinant Proteins
With the recent release of our insect cell-expressed IL-23, eBioscience is pleased to announce the extended availability of a large panel of bioactive recombinant cytokines in bulk quantities. eBioscience is committed to producing the highest quality proteins for small scale and large scale bioassay use, for experiments in vitro, in vivo, and as standards in ELISA or other immunological assay.
Bacterial or Insect Cell Expressed Proteins
Using the latest techniques in insect cell expression or bacterial fermentation methods, final protein products have native conformation and high specific activity. The vast majority of recombinant proteins are greater than 98% pure, as determined by gel electrophoresis.
Authentic, Linkerless, Tagless Proteins
eBioscience's recombinant IL-23 is produced in baculovirus-infected insect cells as an authentic heterodimer of precursor p19 and p40 subunits. It is distinct from other available forms of the protein in that it is expressed as a true heterodimer (see SDS-PAGE), as opposed to a single-chain, pseudo-heterodimer in which the subunits are joined by an artificial linker.

IL-23 SDS-Page: Under non-reducing conditions on SDS-PAGE, the hetero-dimeric cystine-linked IL-23 migrates as a 60 kDa protein (Lane NR). The DTT-reduced IL-23 migrates as 43 kDa and 21 kDa polypeptides (Lane R).

Authentic, Non-Methionylated Proteins
eBioscience aims to supply the most authentic proteins possible. eBioscience is the exclusive provider of many non-methionylated recombinant E. coli expressed cytokines. These E. coli-expressed proteins are specifically engineered and processed to eliminate the extra N-terminal methionine resulting from placing a start sequence in front of the cDNA encoding the mature protein. Such methionylation status and expression information is provided in the package insert.
Well Characterized, Highly Bioactive Proteins
The bioactivity of all proteins is tested in an extended dose response and verified to fall within the range of published values, when available. Specific activity, as a 50% effective dose (ED50), and target cell line/bioassay conditions are described in the product data sheet. Stringent manufacturing processes are used to ensure each batch consistently exceeds industry standards for sterility and low endotoxin. Our sterility testing and endotoxin assay on final product are amongst the most rigorous quality control standards applied.
Validated & Calibrated for ELISA & Bioassay
In addition to the highest standards of bioactivity, each protein is verified for comparable reactivity with native proteins by sandwich ELISA using well characterized ELISA antibody pairs and Ready-SET-Go! ELISA Sets (suitable for serum and plasma analysis).
