Description

This is a peptide mapping to the amino terminal domain of human DBC2. Representational difference analysis (RDA) was the technique used to map a region on human chromosome 8p21 that contained a homozygous deletion several of the breast cancer specimens studied (1). The mapping of this region led to the identification of a gene with somatic mutations in breast cancer cells (1). This expression of this gene DBC2 (deleted in breast cancer) was extinguished in about half of the breast and lung cancer specimens that were examined, making it a good tumor suppressor candidate (1). The functional analysis of DBC2 found that expression of DBC2 in breast cancer cells missing DBC2 transcripts resulted growth inhibition (1).

Applications Reported
