Staining of normal human peripheral blood cells with PE-Cy5.5 Mouse IgG2a, K Iso Cntrl (cat. 35-4724) (open histogram) or PE-Cy5.5 anti-human CD56 (MEM188) (colored histogram). Cells in the lymphocyte gate were used for analysis.

Description

The MEM188 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56, also known as Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule (NCAM). CD56 is a highly glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons and plays a role in the homotypic adhesion of neural cells. In the hematopoietic system, CD56 is expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells referred to as NKT cells.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. The MEM188 (MEM-188) antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

NOTE: eBioscience will be discontinuing all PE-Cy5.5 conjugated antibodies. As an alternative, we recommend that customers use antibodies conjugated to PerCP-Cy5.5, which is a superior fluorochrome due to lesser requirement for compensation. Custom conjugations of PE-Cy5.5 will still be available upon request. Please contact eBioscience Technical Support for additional information.

Applications Tested

The MEM188 (MEM-188) antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analysis of human peripheral blood leukocytes. This can be used at 20 μl (0.5 μg) per 100 μl blood (or per 1 million cells in 100 μl total staining volume).
