Formulation: Sterile liquid; 10 mM sodium phosphate, 150 mM NaCl, pH 7.2, with no carriers or stabilizers. 0.22 uM filtered.
Storage Conditions: For greatest stability, keep concentration of primary stock at or above 10 µg/ml. For long term storage, aliquot into polypropylene vials (volumes of 20 µl or greater) and store at or below -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Handling Conditions: For best recovery, always quick-spin vial prior to opening. For dilution of current stock, always include carrier protein (1% BSA or 10% FBS) in the buffered saline diluent.

Molecular Mass: The protein is not methionylated at the N-terminal and has a predicted molecular mass of 18,298. The DTT reduced protein migrates as an 18 kDa polypeptide on SDS-PAGE. The non-reduced protein migrates as a 16 kDa polypeptide.
Purity: Greater than 98%, as determined by SDS-PAGE
Endotoxin Level: Less than 0.01 ng/ug cytokine as determined by the LAL assay.
Bioactivity: Measured by mouse MC/9 cell proliferation assay. The ED₅₀ is 15 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 6.7 x 10⁴ Units/mg.

Description

Mouse Stem Cell Factor (SCF) is a hematopoietic growth factor and ligand for the KIT tyrosine kinase receptor, which exerts its activity in the early stages of hematopoiesis. Mouse SCF stimulates the proliferation of myeloid, erythroid, and lymphoid progenitors in bone marrow cultures.

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Recombinant mouse SCF is biologically active and is reported useful in bioassays.

Applications Tested

This recombinant mouse SCF has been tested in bioassays using the mouse mast cell line, MC/9. The ED₅₀ measured in MC/9 cell proliferation assay is typically 15 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of approximately 6.7 x10⁴ Units/mg.
