Description

The CRM8 monoclonal antibody reacts with human interleukin-1α (IL-1α). IL-1α is a 17 kDa factor secreted primarily by monocytes. IL-1 has effects on T-helper cells, inducing IL-2 secretion and expression of IL-2 receptors. IL-1 has effects on B cells, promoting cell proliferation and immunoglobulin synthesis. For optimal detection of human IL-1α by ELISA, a combination of purified CRM8 antibody for capture and biotinylated CRM6 antibody for detection is recommended.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. The CRM8 antibody has been reported for use in cytokine neutralization.

Applications Tested

The CRM8 antibody has been tested for neutralizaing IL-1α binding and biological activity. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
