Staining of normal human peripheral blood cells with 1 μg of FG Purified Mouse IgG2a, K Iso Cntrl (cat. 16-4724) (open histogram) or 1 μg of FG Purified anti-human CD56 (MEM188) (colored histogram) followed by FITC Anti-Mouse IgG (cat. 11-4011). Cells in the lymphocyte gate were used for analysis.

Description

The MEM188 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD56, also known as Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule (NCAM). CD56 is a highly glycosylated transmembrane molecule expressed by neurons and plays a role in the homotypic adhesion of neural cells. In the hematopoietic system, CD56 is expressed on NK cells and a subset of T cells referred to as NKT cells.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. The MEM188 (MEM-188) antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested

The MEM188 (MEM-188) antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of human peripheral blood leukocytes. This can be used at less than or equal to 1 μg per 100 μl blood (or per 1 million cells in 100 μl total staining volume). It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
