Contents: Affinity Purified Recombinant mouse FGFa (FGF-acidic)
Catalog Number: 14-8981
Storage Conditions: For greatest stability, keep concentration of primary stock at or above 10 µg/ml. For long term storage, aliquot into polypropylene vials (volumes of 20 µl or greater) and store at or below -20°C in a non-cycling freezer (e.g., not ‘frost free’). Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Handling Conditions: For best recovery, always quick-spin vial prior to opening. For dilution of current stock, always include carrier protein (1% BSA or 10% FBS) in the buffered saline diluent.
Source: E. coli
Purity: Greater than 98%, as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Endotoxin Level: Less than 0.01 ng/ug cytokine as determined by the LAL assay.
Bioactivity: Measured by mouse BALB/c 3T3 cell proliferation assay. The ED50 is 40 pg/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2.5 x107 Units/mg.

Description

Mouse Fibroblast Growth Factor-acidic (FGF-a) is a ~16 kDa non-glycosylated member of the FGF family and is produced by multiple cell types. FGF-a stimulates the proliferation of many cell types including those of mesodermal, neuroectodermal, ectodermal, and endodermal origin. It plays a number of roles in development, regeneration, and angiogenesis.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Recombinant mouse FGFa is biologically active and can promote proliferation of mouse BALB/c 3T3 cells in culture.

Applications Tested

This reagent has been tested by bioassays using the mouse cell line BALB/c 3T3. The ED50 measured in a BALB/c 3T3 proliferation assay is typically 40 pg/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of approximately 2.5 x107 Units/mg.
