Formulation: Sterile liquid; 35% (v/v) acetonitrile, 0.1% trifluoracetic acid (v/v) and 1.0% BSA as a carrier. 0.22 uM filtered.
Storage Conditions: For greatest stability, keep concentration of primary stock at or above 10 µg/ml. For long term storage, aliquot into polypropylene vials (volumes of 20 µl or greater) and store at or below -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Handling Conditions: For best recovery, always quick-spin vial prior to opening. For dilution of current stock, always include carrier protein (1% BSA or 10% FBS) in the buffered saline diluent.

Molecular Mass: The methionylated polypeptide has a predicted molecular mass of 17,518. The DTT reduced protein migrates as a 18 kDa polypeptide. The nonreduced protein migrates as a 16 kDa protein on non-reducing SDS-PAGE.
Purity: Greater than 98%, as determined by SDS-PAGE
Endotoxin Level: Less than 0.01 ng/ug cytokine as determined by the LAL assay.
Bioactivity: Measured by dose-dependent proliferation of PHA-activated human PBMCs. The ED₅₀ is typically 2.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of approximately 5x10⁵ Units/mg.

Description

Human IL-7, also called lymphopoietin 1 (LP-1), a pre-B cell growth factor, is a ~28 kDa factor produced by bone marrow and thymic stromal cell and spleen cells. IL-7 is a stromal cell-derived growth factor for progenitor B cells and T cells. The main population in the thymus responsive to IL-7 is CD4^-CD8^-. It also stimulates proliferation and differentiation of mature T cells and NK cells.

Applications Tested

This recombinant human IL-7 has been tested in bioassay of dose-dependent proliferation of PHA-activated human PBMCs, yielding an ED₅₀ of approximately 2.0 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of approximately 5x10⁵ Units/mg.
