Questions? Please consult our answers to frequently asked questions at http://www.ebioscience.com/faq. DescriptionMouse IL-4, also known as BCDF, BCGF-1 and BSF-1, is secreted by activated Th2 and natural killer T cells, and to a lesser extent by Th1 and mast cells. IL-4 is species-specific and promotes proliferation and differentiation of B cells. IL-4, in conjunction with other signals such as CD40, induces Ig isotype switching of B cells and the upregulation of surface MHC class II and CD23. Applications ReportedFor research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Recombinant mouse IL-4 is biologically active and can promote proliferation of mouse T lymphocytes in culture. It is also used as a cytokine standard in mouse IL-4 ELISA. Applications TestedThis reagent has been tested by sandwich ELISA using the anti-mouse IL-4 antibody pair (11B11/BVD6-24G2) and in bioassays using the mouse cell line CTLL-2. The ED50 measured in a CTLL-2 proliferation assay is typically 100 pg/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of approximately 1x107 Units/mg.
