Description

The 2D2 antibody reacts with human Bax (~21 kDa), and does not react with rat and mouse Bax. The 2D2 antibody shows no cross-reaction with Bcl-2 or Bcl-x_L proteins. Bcl-2, Bax, and Bcl-x_L are members of a protein family that regulates apoptosis; while several family members including Bcl-2 and Bcl-x_L inhibit apoptosis, overexpression of Bax promotes programmed cell death. A human Bax protein peptide sequence, aa 3-16, was used as immunogen.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. The 2D2 antibody has been reported for use in immunoblotting (WB), and immunohistochemical staining.

Applications Tested

The 2D2 antibody has been tested by Western Blot and can be used at approximately 1 μg/ml. 2D2 can also be used in IHC at approximately 2-4 μg/ml. It is recommended that the reagent be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
