Description

The polyclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, and rat caspase-12 (N-terminus); the antibody was raised against residues 2-17 of mouse Caspase-12 and reacts with human, mouse and rat Caspase-12. Caspase-12 is ubiquitously expressed in mouse tissues and localized to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and activated by ER stress resulting in apoptosis. ER stress, including disruption of ER calcium homeostasis and accumulation of excess proteins in ER, but not by membrane- or mitochondrial-targeted apoptotic signals, is responsible for Caspase-12 activation. In the ER, Caspase-12 is co-localized with several proteins involved in Alzheimer’s disease including γ-secretase presenilin and β-amyloid precursor protein (APP) and mediates cytotoxicity induced by amyloid-β.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. This polyclonal antibody has been reported for use in immunoblotting (WB).

Applications Tested

This polyclonal antibody has been tested by immunoblotting (~1 μg/ml) of Caspase-12 from mouse spleen lysate as a positive control lysate. It is recommended that the reagent be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
