Description

The polyclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, and rat Stat3; the antibody was raised against a peptide corresponding with amino acid sequence 50 to 240 of human Stat3, a transcription factor expressed in most cell types, which is activated by multiple cytokines and growth factors. These include IFN-γ, IL-10, IL-6, IL-11, onM, LIF, CNTF, G-CSF, IL-12, IL-2, GH, RGF, PDGF and CSF-1. Stat3 binds to DNA as either a homodimer or as a heterodimer with Stat1. Stat3 interacts with APRE (acute phase response element) and SIE (c-sis inducible element). Stat3 has an expected molecular weight of 89 kDa. Cross-reactivity with other species is not known.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. This polyclonal antibody has been reported for use in immunohistochemical staining of paraffin embedded tissue sections.

Applications Tested

This polyclonal antibody has been tested by immunohistochemical analysis of formalin fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections (1:25-50). Breast carcinoma may be used as a positive control. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
