Description
The polyclonal antibody reacts with human Stat5; the antibody has been generated against a peptide corresponding with amino acid sequence 371 to 389 of human Stat5. Two highly related, but distinct Stat5 genes (Stat5α and Stat5β) were identified in mice. The amino acid sequences of Stat5α and Stat5β show ~96% sequence similarity, and both proteins are coexpressed in most tissues of both virgin and lactating mice. However, differential accumulation of Stat5α and Stat5β mRNA has been reported for both muscle and mammary tissue. Stat5 has been shown to be the essential mediator of prolactin induced milk protein gene activation.
The antibody detects Stat5 α/β. Cross-reactivity with other species is not known. The molecular weight of Stat5 is 85-92 kDa.

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. This polyclonal antibody has been reported for use in immunoblotting (WB) (2-4 μg/ml).

This polyclonal antibody has been tested by immunoblotting (WB). A431 cells can be used as a positive control. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
