Description

The ST4.01 (NB.34) antibody reacts with human and mouse Stat4; the antibody was generated against the C-terminus of human Stat4. The Stat4 protein is a transcription factor activated by hormone and cytokines. Stat4 is most similar to Stat1 (52%) and Stat3 (47%). Functionally, Stat4 is similar to other Stat family members in that it can be tyrosine phosphorylated by Jak1 or Jak2. Stat4 forms homodimers and heterodimers with related Stat family members. Tyrosine phosphorylated Stat4 can bind the IFN-γ activated site (GAS), and serine phosphorylation is also required for maximal transcriptional activity. Stat4 expression is restricted to the thymus, spleen, and testis. Stat4 has an expected molecular weight of 80 kDa.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. The ST4.01 (NB.34) antibody has been reported for use in immunoprecipitation (mouse only), and immunoblotting (WB).

Applications Tested

The ST4.01 (NB.34) antibody has been tested by immunoblotting (WB) (1 μg/ml). Testis lysate can be used as a positive control. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
