Description

CCR5 is the major co-receptor for macrophage-tropic isolates of HIV-1. CCR5, also known as CD195, is a seven transmembrane chemokine receptor capable of binding RANTES, MIP-1α and MIP-1β. Knockout mice show a decreased recruitment of macrophages and increased susceptibility to infection. Protein and mRNA has been found in macrophages from thioglycolate-treated and activated T cells.

The HM-CCR5(7A4) monoclonal antibody binds the N terminal extracellular domain of mouse CCR5.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. The HM-CCR5 (7A4) antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested

This HM-CCR5 (7A4) antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of transfected cells. This can be used at less than or equal to 1 μg per million cells in a 100 μl total staining volume. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
