Description

The OX8 monoclonal antibody reacts with rat CD8α. CD8α is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily which heterodimerizes with CD8β to form the CD8 antigen expressed on CD4+CD8+, double-positive thymocytes, the majority of MHC class I-restricted peripheral T cells, and on some macrophages. CD8 binds to MHC class I expressed on the surface of antigen-presenting cells during antigen presentation, and participates in T-cell receptor signal transduction through association with the kinase Lck.

Applications Reported

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. This OX8 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis, immunohistology staining of frozen tissue sections, and immunohistology staining of paraffin embedded tissue sections. (Please use Functional Grade purified OX8, cat. 16-0084, in functional assays.)

Applications Tested

This OX8 antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of rat splenocytes. This can be used at less than or equal to 1 μg per million cells in a 100 μl total staining volume. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
