Description

The polyclonal rabbit anti-human IL-1RA antibody reacts with human interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA). IL-1RA is produced by macrophages, monocytes, neutrophils, synovial and dermal fibroblasts. The 17 kDa soluble form of IL-1RA (sIL-1RA) is produced by hepatocytes. IL-1RA inhibits the release of both forms of IL-1, the secretion of IL-2, and the expression of IL-2 receptors on the cell surface. IL-1RA also blocks the stimulation of prostaglandin E2 synthesis in synovial cells and the proliferation of thymocytes.

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Biotin rabbit anti-human IL-1RA has been reported for use in ELISA.

Applications Tested

The biotinylated polyclonal anti-human IL-1RA antibody has been tested as the detection antibody in a sandwich ELISA for analysis of human IL-1RA in combination with the purified CRM17 antibody (Cat. No. 14-7015) for capture and recombinant human IL-1RA as the standard. A suitable range of concentrations of this antibody for ELISA detection is 0.5-2 µg/ml. A standard curve consisting of doubling dilutions of the recombinant standard over the range of 10,000 pg/ml - 80 pg/ml should be included in each ELISA plate.
