Description
The LN2 monoclonal antibody recognizes CD74 (MHC Class II-associated invariant chain), which is a 33-43 kDa nonpolymorphic type II membrane protein. CD74 is expressed on B cells, at lower levels on monocytes and macrophages, and on subsets of activated T cells, Langerhans cells, dendritic cells and epithelial cells. CD74 is known to act as a chaperone of MHC Class II (HLA-DR) proteins, promoting their exit from the ER and directing them to endocytic compartments. However, recently a signaling function has been demonstrated for CD74 based on its interaction with CD44 and its binding of the proinflammatory cytokine macrophage migration-inhibitory factor (MIF). CD74 is also thought to play a role in the maturation of follicular B-cells and accumulation of marginal zone B-cells.
Applications Reported
For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. This LN2 antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis, immunohistology staining of frozen tissue sections, and immunohistology staining of paraffin embedded tissue sections.
Applications Tested
This LN2 antibody has been pre-titrated and tested by flow cytometric analyis of normal human peripheral blood leukocytes. This can be used at 10 μl per test. A test is defined as the amount (μg) of antibody that will stain a cell sample in a final volume of 100 µL. Cell number should be determined empirically but can range from 105 to 108 cells/test.
