Staining of normal human peripheral blood cells with Biotin Mouse IgG2b Iso Cntrl (cat. 13-4732) (open histogram) or Biotin anti-human CD4 (OKT4) (colored histogram) followed by Streptavidin-PE (cat. 12-4317). Cells in the lymphocyte gate were used for analysis.

Description

The OKT4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface glycoprotein expressed by the majority of thymocytes, a subpopulation of mature T cells (T-helper cells) and in low levels on monocytes. CD4 is a receptor for the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). The OKT4 antibody recognizes a different epitope than the RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody, and these antibodies do not cross-block binding to each other's respective epitopes.

For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. This OKT4 (OKT-4) antibody has been reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested

This OKT4 (OKT-4) antibody has been tested by flow cytometric analysis of human peripheral blood leukocytes. This can be used at less than or equal to 0.125 μg per 100 μl blood (or per 1 million cells in 100 μl total staining volume). It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
