Mouse thiogylcolate induced PEC were stimulated with LPS in the presence of Brefeldin A for 22 hours. (Left) The cells were surface stained with FITC anti-mouse CD11b (M1/70) and intracellularly stained with PE rat IgG2b isotype control. (Right) The cells were surface stained with FITC anti-mouse CD11b and intracellularly stained with PE anti-mouse IL-1a (ALF-161).

Description
The ALF-161 antibody reacts with mouse interleukin-1α (IL-1α). Mouse IL-1α, also called Lymphocyte Activating Factor (LAF), Endogenous Pyrogen (EP), Leukocyte Endogenous Mediator (LEM), and Mononuclear Cell Factor (MCF), is a 17 kDa factor produced by a wide variety of cells, including macrophages, dendritic cells, T and B cells. IL-1α is mostly cell-associated, with 23% amino acid homology with IL-1β. The immune regulatory role of IL-1α is exerted on a wide range of cells including lymphocytes, epithelial cells and fibroblasts. In vivo, it induces hypotension, fever, and acute phase response.
Applications Reported
For research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. The ALF-161 antibody has been reported for use in ELISA capture, ELISPOT capture, neutralization, and intracellular staining for flow cytometry.
Applications Tested
The fluorochrome-conjugated ALF-161 antibody has been tested by intracellular staining for flow cytometric analysis of thioglycloate-elicited, LPS-activated, fixed/permeabilized mouse peritoneal exudate cells. A recommended range of antibody concentrations for optimal staining is 0.25 - 0.75 ug antibody per 1 million cells in 100 ul staining volume. Please see the eBioscience intracellular staining protocol for further information. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest.
