DescriptionThe mFOXY antibody reacts with mouse Foxp3 also known as FORKHEAD BOX P3, SCURFIN, and JM2; cross reactivity of this antibody to other proteins have not been determined. The foxp3 gene was identified as the gene defective in 'scurfy' (sf) mice. Foxp3, a 49-55 Kda molecule, is a member of the forkhead/winged-helix family of transcriptional regulators and is highly conserved in humans. Recently, constitutive high expression of Foxp3 mRNA has been shown in CD4-positive/CD25-positive regulatory T cells (Treg cells). Transduced expression of Foxp3 in CD4-positive/CD25-negative cells imparted a Treg phenotype in these cells, with low levels of cytokine expression. It has been proposed that Foxp3 may be a master regulatory gene and a marker for Treg cells. Recent reports also suggest expression of Foxp3 on a subpopulation of rat CD8+ cells. Applications ReportedFor research use only, not for diagnostic or therapeutic use. Applications TestedThe purified mFOXY antibody has been tested by immunoblotting. The FITC conjugated mFOXY has no tyet been tested and released for histology and flow cytometry. Studies are underway to evaluate the use of fluorochrome conjugated mFOXY by intracellular flow cytometric analysis of mouse tissues. References
