Versatile reagent for staining cells and tissue

eFluor® Nanocrystals can easily be used to detect specific antigens by microscopy. They are suitable for immunofluorescent staining of cultured cells and frozen or paraffin embedded tissue samples. Using eFluor® Nanocrystals for immunofluorescence rather than conventional organic dyes allows you to take advantage of their inherent photostability.

This means that once tissue is stained, the signal will be stable for significantly longer than the signal provided by other more photo-labile dyes. In addition, the broad excitation and narrow emission spectra of eFluor® Nanocrystals enables multicolor analysis of samples.

Frozen tissue section stained with Streptavidin eFluor® 605NC.
Frozen sections of mouse lymph node were stained with either no primary antibody (left panel) or biotin anti-mouse CD3 (145-2C11) (right panel) and subsequently with streptavidin eFluor® 605NC to visualize the T cell zone. FITC anti-mouse B220 (RA3-6B2) was used to identify B cell follicles.

MDCK cells stained with Streptavidin eFluor® 605NC.
MDCK cells were grown to near confluency on chamber slides. Cells were fixed, permeabilized, and stained with either no primary antibody (top panel) or purified anti- -Tubulin (DM1a) (bottom panel). Cells were then stained with biotin anti-mouse IgG followed by streptavidin eFluor® 605NC to visualize the cytoskeletal network.
