The organization of cells while generally conserved can also be highly specialized so that differences in structural components and their function(s) result in thousands of different cells types. Subcellular organelles, structural elements and structural proteins orchestrate cell metabolism and proliferation, differentiation and migration among key functions. Structural elements of the cell provide the framework for cell’s morphology as well as its functional response to its environment.
